4:15 - 5:30 p.m. Recruitment and Retention: What works?
Panel discussion and audience participation as we review recruitment and retention for administrators, teachers and support staff. The panel will review North American statistics; changes in the workforce; the challenges of salaries and benefits keeping up with inflation and its impact on recruitment and retention; the after-effect of the pandemic on burnout and flight; and the political impact on teaching.

Monday, March 13
9:00 – 11:00 a.m. How do we create a stable workforce in Education?
Speaker: Terry Dougherty, Superintendent, Hancock Central School District
Mr. Dougherty will discuss strategies districts are developing to address short- and long-term recruitment and retention issues for positions district wide. He will review how building a stable workforce is dependent upon quality mentoring programs, integrated career readiness, the interview process, collective bargaining and employee benefits.

Presenters: Mark Pettitt and Rachel Rissetto, NAEN Co-Executive Directors
Mark and Rachel will share information submitted by members across the US and Canada regarding unique recruitment and retention strategies and discuss the logistics of successful implementation.

1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Round Table Discussion – Follow up to the morning session
Facilitators: Mark Pettitt and Rachel Rissetto, NAEN Co-Executive Directors
Mark and Rachel will meet with focus groups to facilitate an in-depth discussion regarding best practices.
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Engaging Administrative Staff and Improving their Wellbeing; National Insights and Strategies for Schools
All employers see a value to building staff engagement and improving staff wellbeing. Sharon’s presentation focuses on how to successfully impact the wellbeing of administrators; examining what we can do to increase retention once we have successfully recruited for administrative positions.
